What Is Spiritual Direction?

    Spiritual Direction is a guided process of spiritual discernment.  With the assistance of a spiritual director, participants work to discern their own spiritual path.  Utilizing sensitive listening, intimacy and healing, a deliberate prayer life, individual guidance, and personal growth, the participant is encouraged to determine and reach their spiritual goal of fulfilment and service.

Sister Breta

Breta Gorman, RSM is a Sister of Mercy of the South Central Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.  She is a spiritual director with a degree in spirituality from Regis College, Jesuit School of Tehology in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Her intership in spiritual direction was completed at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Narrangansett, Rhode Island.  She previously lived in Toledo and taught at McAuley High School, off of the Anthony Wayne Trail, from 1960 to 1985. She currently lives in Fremont and along with offering spiritual direction at the Village works at Our Lady of the Pines Retreat Center there.
